Simple Machines In Life Summer Camp

In this popular summer camp students will be introduced to the multiple ecosystems, systems, Chemical and mechanical solutions, labs, tools, and resources available at Mezzacello Urban Farm. BioMechanics extends both BioTech and BioEngineering with a key focus on molecular and physical mechanics which is a key facet of our work here at Mezzacello. The integration of design thinking, chemistry, simple machines, as well as Robotics, Automation Systems, and Data and Modeling Tech, and energy systems allow students to better achieve sustainability. This is a clean hand/dirty hand camp. There will mud, manure, dirt, and live animals as well as power generation, chemistry, robots, sensors, power systems, and biology labs.

There will also be lots of fun, games, design challenges and team building activities. Students will learn the basics of biochemistry and mechanical design and how to use design thinking, technology, as well as natural and renewable resources in the urban environment to create a healthy home for humans, animals, pollinators, soil microbes, and compost.

  • Mezzacello has a limited supply of child-sized boots. Rubber Boots are Required.

  • Lunch is not provided.

How amazing is that we can make food for food and build machines to deliver it?! I liked helping all the tiny animals we need, but don't get to see.

Frogga, Summer Camper

This camp involves wild farm animals and various insects. All animals are housed safely and involve very little threat. In BioMechanics we will be studying the movement and physiology of few key species in a safe lab environment.

The camp requires that all students come prepared to learn on a working farm and ready to use tools in a challenging but responsible way. That means long pants, gloves and access to sterilizable rubber boots.

Atomic Farming

In this popular summer camp students will be introduced to the multiple ecosystems, systems, Chemical and physical systems, labs, tools, and resources available at Mezzacello Urban Farm. Atomic Farming extends both BioTech and BioEngineering with a key focus on quantum, atomic, molecular, and classical effects in nature which is another key facet of our work here at Mezzacello.

The integration of design thinking, chemistry, quantum physics, philosophy, problem-solving, and Data and Modeling Tech, and energy systems allow students to better achieve sustainability. This is a clean hand/dirty hand camp. There will mud, manure, dirt, and live animals as well as power generation, chemistry, robots, sensors, power systems, quantum systems, fertilizer and compost, and biology labs.

There will also be lots of fun, games, design challenges and team building activities. Students will learn the basics of what we understand about the quantum realm and why it is so important to an urban farm. We will use design challenges and design thinking, technology, as well as natural and renewable resources in the urban environment to create a healthy home for humans, animals, pollinators, soil microbes, and compost.

Partners Not Pets Summer Camp

In this popular summer camp students will be introduced to the multiple ecosystems, animals, labs, and resources available at Mezzacello Urban Farm. BioTechnology is a key facet of our work here at Mezzacello. The integration of livestock, plants, soil, water, and energy systems to better achieve sustainability are covered and expanded upon. This is a clean hand/dirty hand camp. There will mud, manure, dirt, and live animals as well as robots, sensors, power systems, and biology labs.

There will also be lots of fun, games, design challenges and team building activities. Students will learn the basics of integrated enclosed ecosystems and how to maximize natural, renewable resources in the urban environment to create a healthy home for humans, animals, pollinators, soil microbes, and compost.

I loved caring for the animals at Mezzacello, even the crickets! Yuck! But they are really important. The bunnies are so cute!

Sophia, Summer Camper

This camp involves wild farm animals and various insects. All animals are safely and securely housed and adult supervision is guaranteed. Summer Camp Students will be handling various species to determine the best solution to solving a BioEngineering solution that is best for that species of livestock or insect.

The camp requires that all students come prepared to learn on a working farm and ready to use tools in a challenging but responsible way. That means long pants, gloves and access to sterilizable rubber boots.

It is really cool that nature and people use the same six simple machines to do everything. It makes it easier to understand how nature works.

Simon, Summer Camper

This camp involves wild farm animals like rabbits, ducks and chickens, as well as quail, fish, and various insects. All animals are housed safely and involve very little threat. In BioTech we will be studying the health, maintenance and physiology of few key species in a safe lab environment. There will be adult supervision and sanitary practices and precautions will be taken.

The camp requires that all students come prepared to learn on a working farm. That means long pants and access to sterilizable rubber boots.
